    Gideon, this is interesting to me, in light of the Attorney General's office use of one USA's push to record interrogations as grounds for his termination. Seems the FBI didn't cotton to the idea of having their interrogations recorded. :)

    Karoli, this is a measure that has been proposed before, but didn't get funding. It has been getting more favor across the country because of the rash of exonerations and false confessions. In particular, I remember a MN study where there was initial resistance from law enforcement, but after a few years (maybe more) of its implementation, they swore by it.

    You can't go wrong with this if your true goal is "the truth".

    Thankfully there are no provisions that require a supervisor's permission - as with the feds.
